A Few Good Restaurants

If you decide to spend a day in Washington D.C. you are probably interested in history and politics. And there is certainly an abundance of both of those things in this town. You can go see the Smithsonian, Lincoln memorial, and you can even see the White House.
Of course, after all of that sight seeing and culture intake you are going to build up an appetite. For those of you who venture to D.C., or to be more specific Northwest D.C., here are a few suggestions for restaurants that are a must to visit.

Mackey’s is an Irish pub that offers authentic Irish beers and a wide variety of Irish dishes. With so many selections there is something for everyone whether you want to try something new or stick to what you know. Mackey’s also offers daily specials. Not only does Mackey’s offer food but they have a selection of beer, tap and bottled, to go with your meal or to be enjoyed alone. The prices are great and the service is too. Go to www.Mackeyspub.com to view the menu. Mackey’s is located at 1823 L street NW.

Nooshi is located at 1120 19th street and it is between L and M. Nooshi’s specialties are noodles and sushi, Nooshi is a mix of the words noodles and sushi, but their menu goes beyond those two items. I personally recommend the grilled chicken and the grilled fish. A noodle bowl that I recommend is the Mee Goreng. The Mee Goreng is a mixture of egg noodles and your choice of chicken beef or pork. Shrimp is available for the Mee Goreng as well. Try this noodle bowl only if you like spicy foods. As for the sushi, Nooshi offers just about any kind of sushi and roll you can think of. All of their sushi is made fresh and priced per piece so you can sample as many as you like. If you don’t like a particular piece you are not stuck with a whole plate of food you are not going to eat.
The drink menu includes soda and specialty drinks including mojito that is one of the best I’ve ever tried. What really makes this restaurant unique is that two doors down from it is a take out only Nooshi restaurant. So if you want to take your food with you, you don’t have to go through the hassle of waiting for a table.
If you decide that you want to pass the sushi and Nooshi all together you don’t have to pass too far.

One door down from Nooshi’s takeout restaurant is Jonathan’s Gourmet, a deli style eatery. Jonathan's offers many different types of food and it is a food bar so you can choose exactly what you want and that can be really convenient when you can't make up your mind on just one thing. During the afternoon you can find Chinese food, sushi, grilled chicken, seafood, and a variety of side dishes. You can order sandwiches and purchase snacks and drinks from the deli.
The sandwiches and things that you purchase from the deli have fixed prices but the food bar is priced by the pound. The food is good and is reasonably priced making Jonathan's gourmet a good place to dine while in Washington D.C.

Whether you need a little bit of energy before you see the sights or if you need to regain some strength and eat a good meal after you see the sights, those are a few of the best and affordable places to eat in Northwest D.C.

Thanks for the investigation. I'll be sure to check out Nooshi this week.
