  • Narrow, steep steps used in William Blatty's film The Exorcist
  • The movie is based on actual events that happened to a family in Mt. Ranier, Maryland
  • 97 stone steps that were known as "The Hitchcock" steps before 1973
  • A stunt double actually dove down the steps twice (of course they were lined with foam padding)

This place is a must-see if you're in the Georgetown area. It's close to the shopping area, so it's not hard to convince your friends or family to walk over...surprise them!

WENT THERE SATURDAY. VERY CREEPY. THE HOUSE IS AT THE VERY TOP OF THE STEPS. I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS THE HOUSE UNTIL I GOT HOME THAT AFTERNOON & LOOKED IT UP ON THE INTERNET. I WAS CONFUSED BECAUSE IN THE MOVIE THE STEPS ARE RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE. IN REALITY THE STEPS ARE AT LEAST 20 OR 30 FEET AWAY. THE STEPS RUN RIGHT IN BETWEEN THE EXORCIST HOUSE & A GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY BUILDING.

Thanks for posting the video. I will make it a point to go visit this place when I visit Georgetown.
