David Beckham at Sequoia's on the Georgetown Waterfront Last Night...ladies swoon

That's right, Beckham dined out at Sequoia's in full view of a city that filled RFK stadium just to see the injured player hobble onto the field. One might feel sorry for America's new acquisition as he tried to eat dinner with friends, including former Olympic star Kobe Jones, while being inundated with requests for photo ops. Thankfully he took the attention in stride and even smiled when Lisa Audi, Kelly Caraway, and Kelly Price asked him for a photo.

"He was really nice about it. We were asked not to bother him by the bouncers, but we just couldn't resist", said Lisa Audi. "I think we got there just in time because after we got our picture the bouncers shooed the mob of girls away and let him eat in peace". Read more »

Ice-Berg Slim: Cool-headed Nat’s starter skates razor thin margin of error in no-hit bid

Like some other nightly endeavors, pandering to a crowd of almost 19,000 under stadium lights ‘ain’t easy.’ With this small army of die-hards echoing in a cavernous bowl designed to seat over 50,000 strong, fans in RFK’s upper deck can shout down to the field with the stunning clarity once only available through BOSE Audio’s infomercials. There is a personal aspect to this sort of pressure this is arguably more rattling than the indistinguishable roar of a packed house. The pressure of a no-hitter in progress, however, remains undisputable. Read more »

Washington, DC Capitals Off Season Report

From one nation’s capital to another, "thank you Ottawa!"

The Pittsburgh Penguins are no more thanks to the Ottawa Senators. The Senators eliminated Pittsburgh from the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Thursday night with a 3-0 victory in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The Senators mix of grit and toughness paid off as they manhandled Pittsburgh to win the best of seven series four games to one. This news brings music to the ears of Caps fans because not only did the Pittsburgh Penguins get beat, they got beat up. Read more »

D.C. Untied: New beginning needed to assuage citywide sports hangover

With Hoyasteria ebbing into fond memories and projections for Georgetown’s next season, the District returns to… whatever it is they were doing before “JT-III’s” team willed their way to the Final Four, only to be outplayed by tourney runner-up Ohio State. The most logical transition for DC sports fans would be to pro hoops, where the upstart Wizards were primed to pry the Southeast Division Title away from the ailing Miami Heat. The defending champs were prone after their heart-and-soul player, Dwayne Wade, went down with a dislocated shoulder. And yet now, it seems that the wheel of fate has turned, rolling over Washington’s NBA expectations like a puppy crossing the beltway. Read more »

"M, Bond is Down!": Gilbert Arenas injures his knee

Just kidding, James Bond is still okay. But another agent in the field is not going to be for a little while. Agent Single "0" is not doing very good, matter fact he is in bad shape. Gilbert Arenas tore the meniscus in his left knee rendering him done for the season. While the rest of his teammates are still healthy, this is a big loss for the Wizards. Read more »

The Caps wrap up their 2006-2007 season this afternoon against the Buffalo Sabres at the Verizon Center. The Capitals need to record one point tonight to finish with more points than last season (70). The Capitals come into tonight’s game riding a three game winning streak, their first since the first week of January. The Caps are coming off an impressive 3-2 road victory in Atlanta on Wednesday night. Alex Ovechkin netted two goals against the Thrashers and was named NHL.com’s first star. Today fans could be treated to a milestone as Ovechkin is just two goals shy of 100 for his career, and 2 points shy of 200 points. Today’s final game of the season is fan appreciation day, today the Caps organization treats fans to a blunder of gifts and prizes at the Verizon Center. Read more »

Tonight the Washington Capitals are on the road for the final time in the 2006-2007 season.
Capitals vs. Panthers Preview: The last week of their season

The Capitals start the last week of their season tonight at the Verizon Center in a match-up versus the Florida Panthers. The Capitals have lost their last six games coming into tonight. A win against their division foes in front of the home crowd on fan appreciation week would give the Caps some momentum heading into their final two games of the season. The Caps are 2-3-2 against Florida this season. The last time the Caps hit the ice was in Tampa on Saturday night, the Caps lost to the Lightning 5-2. Despite keeping a fast pace and staying physical against Tampa Bay for most of the game, the Caps again struggled to kill penalties. Read more »
